Happy Monday! For this week’s Handbag and Lattes series, I decided to showcase one of my favorite handbags, Louis Vuitton Speedy, along with my new favorite latte from Starbucks. This bag may be known as the “starter” or “getaway” bag to many since it’s price point isn’t as bad as some of its counterparts, Chanel or Hermes anyone? That being said, its still not necessarily cheap bag, but definitely can be saved up for. I have to admit that this was not my first designer bag but I always knew I wanted it for its timeless and classic appeal.

The Speedy bag comes in the canvas print but has three colors to chose from: monogram print, Damier Ebene, and Damier Azur. I opted for the monogram print. I know the monogram has a very polarizing affect, you either love it or hate it. If you love it, like me, its probably cause of it’s timeless look and most recognizable logo. If you dislike it, it’s probably cause of it’s most recognizable logo. I know a lot of people who like their bags subtle and not easily recognizable, and feel the LV monogram is way too loud. If you’re in the dislike camp, don’t worry the Damier Ebene and Damier Azur are not flashy at all and might be the perfect fit.

Another thing to keep in mind when deciding between the materials is the handle. Both the monogram print and Damier Azur handles are untreated leather. Brand new the leather is light beige color but with use, time, and sunlight the leather starts to patina, fancy way of saying gets darker. I love seeing older Speedy bags when the handles have gotten a dark caramel color, it always looks great, but the process can take a while. During the process, you have to be super careful with the bag. Anything from rain, snow, wet hands, sanitizer, or perfume can all potentially stain the handles, which are nearly impossible to get out. Due to this, one has to baby their handbag. If you don’t want to have to check the forecast before pulling out your Speedy or constantly babying it around, then I highly suggest getting the Damier Ebene print. The Damier Ebene’s handles are treated leather so you won’t have to worry about it getting ruined.

The Speedy handbag is a top handle handbag which can be carried on your wrist or the crook of your elbow. If you prefer a shoulder bag or cross-body, but still love the look of the Speedy than the Speedy Bandoulier might be what you’re looking for. It’s literally the Speedy bag but with a shoulder strap attached. The Bandoulier costs a few hundred dollars more, so that’s another thing to keep in mind.

The Speedy bag has a top zipper component, once zipped it can be locked using two tabs to lock it. I never lock my bag so I removed the lock from the tab, since through time it can stretch out the leather. I attached the lock to the front of the bag like a charm. Inside the Speedy there’s one small pouch that can easily hold a cell phone or keys. Aside from the pouch there are no other compartments, which can make the bag seem like a big hole when searching for something. I recommend using small cosmetic cases to keep  your items organized. Aside from the lack of compartments and being careful with the handles, the Speedy has become one of my favorite everyday bags.

The only thing I love more than handbags are lattes. Anyone that knows me knows my love for Starbucks. I usual get the Caramel Macchiato with one pump Vanilla Syrup and light caramel drizzle, but depending on the barista it still comes off to sweet. The other day I was at the Benefit Brow shop inside Sephora, the awesome girl working on my eyebrows suggested I try the Hazelnut Latte. I was a bit hesitant but after the first sip it instantly became my new favorite. It’s not as sweet as the caramel macchiato but still has a bitter taste.
