Temple of Yum

Hello Lovlies,

Eid Mubarak to my fellow Muslims! I hope you’ve been able to spend the last few days with loved ones. I had a wonderful time in Toronto for my first Eid. My wonderful husband and I headed down to Liberty Village downtown for a delicious brunch at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen. The restaurant is well known for it’s brunch menu. With many sweet and savory options available it’s sure to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds. Since we weren’t sure if we wanted sweet or savory we did the rational thing and ordered both! We were seated quickly since we arrived on a Monday, but if you plan to go on weekends, expect wait times around 45 mins or so. They don’t take reservation, so just pop in and put your name and number down on the list and go explore Liberty Village, there’s a West Elm right across the restaurant which is a great way to kill time! Our waiter was attentive and brought us over a large bottle of water for the table and went over the daily specials and gave us his recommendations. We both decided to order the Huevos Monty, which includes black beans nestled between two flour tortillas and topped with salsa, avocado and two sunny side eggs. Basically a Mexican inspired dish which for a lack of better words was drool worthy. The dish did not disappoint and filled every savory desire I had. We asked for hot sauce on the side, which the waiter warned us was extremely hot, he wasn’t lying! Luckily for me I love the heat and felt like it added to the dish. If you’re not a fan of the heat, I wouldn’t recommend getting the hot sauce, but if you love spicy kicks then this is perfect. You cannot come to MTK without trying their blueberry pancakes which they’ve called “the fluffiest in all of the land” and let me tell you they’re not lying! I don’t even like blueberries and I love this dish! It’s super fluffy pancakes with fresh blueberries and a blueberry compote jam on top. You can order the three stack and make it a meal or you can order single ones to indulge your sweet tooth. Either way you won’t ever look at blueberry pancakes the same way. If you’re in Toronto and looking for a great brunch spot that serves brunch ALL week long, then you have to stop by Mildred Temple’s Kitchen! What’s your fav brunch spot in the 6?! -Habon xo
